On April 13, 2010, at about 2pm, Steinbach RCMP were informed of a single vehicle rollover accident on Highway 12, just south of the town of Blumenort, Manitoba.
Investigation revealed that a 2002 Toyota Rav4 driven by a 31-year-old female with a 69-year-old male passenger was traveling southbound on Highway 12 when the driver lost control rolling the vehicle into the ditch.
The passenger was thrown from the vehicle and then transported to the Bethesda Hospital in Steinbach where he was pronounced dead. The driver remained in the vehicle and was taken to the Ste. Anne Hospital and then transported to the Winnipeg Health Sciences Center in stable condition.
The name of the deceased is not being released pending notification of next of kin.
Alcohol is not a factor. The passenger was not wearing a seat belt which was a contributing factor to the fatality.
The investigation continues.
