On May 2, 2010 at 11:40am, RCMP Selkirk Detachment, along with local EMS, were dispatched to a residence in the 700 block of Clandeboye Avenue in Selkirk. 

An 80-year-old man was found in his home, assaulted. He was conveyed to the Selkirk General Hospital and has since been transferred to the Health Sciences Centre in critical condition.

RCMP Selkirk Detachment, assisted by the RCMP Major and Serious Crime Units, as well as the RCMP Winnipeg Forensic Identification Services, are investigating.

RCMP Selkirk Detachment have made an arrest in connection with the home invasion and murder of 80-year-old Ralph James Larson of Selkirk. 33-year-old Ryan Otte of Selkirk, Manitoba is in police custody and has been charged with second degree murder.

The accused, Ryan Otte and the victim are reported to be known to each other. His first court appearance is scheduled for Wednesday, May 5 at 9:30am in Winnipeg.

Police continue to investigate. Anyone with information is asked to call Selkirk RCMP or their local police agency.
