On May 9, 2010, at about 12:45pm, RCMP received a report of two boys who had gotten into a red truck and drove away from an apartment building parking lot in The Pas, Manitoba.
The truck backed into a parked vehicle and fled the scene. A licence plate check revealed the truck had been stolen from the Grand Rapids area.
While police were making patrols for the suspect vehicle, a second report was received that a truck matching the description had driven through a walking path in the Cudmore Crescent area. The occupant of the stolen vehicle then drove into a field in the 1000 block of Halcrow Avenue. A male youth was observed jumping out of the vehicle and taking off towards 10th street. A description was provided to police and patrols were made in and around the area. A youth matching the description was spotted and taken into custody a short while later.
A 12-year-old male youth from Grand Rapids, who cannot be named, has been charged with possession of property obtained by crime, as well as numerous highway traffic act offences. The male youth has been released on a promise to appear in youth court on July 13, 2010, in The Pas, Manitoba.
The investigation continues.
