On June 6, 2010, at about 11pm, Powerview RCMP were dispatched to the scene of a two vehicle collision near the Stead Road turnoff on Highway 304, in the RM of Alexander.
Police, Emergency Services and Ambulance attended the location of the collision.
Investigation revealed that 2 vehicles had collided head-on, a 1997 Dodge Neon and a 2006 Ford Taurus.
The driver of the Ford Taurus, a 37-year-old man from the RM of Alexander, was pronounced deceased at the scene of the collision. The driver of the Dodge Neon, a 26-year-old man from Winnipeg, Manitoba was transported to hospital with serious, non life threatening injuries.
An RCMP traffic analyst attended to assist with the investigation.
The highway was closed to traffic for approximately 4 hours for investigation and to clear the debris. Manitoba Highways Department attended to ensure the roadway was clear before re-opening to traffic.
There were no other vehicles involved and no other passengers in the vehicles. The name of the deceased is not being released to ensure notification of next of kin.
Alcohol is considered to be a factor in the collision.
Police continue to investigate.
