On June 16, 2010, at approximately 8:08am, the St. Pierre Jolys RCMP Detachment responded to a 911 call of a two vehicle collision which occurred at the intersection of Highway 23 and PR 200 in the RM of DeSalaberry.

Police, fire, and ambulance were dispatched to the scene.

The investigation thus far has revealed that a southbound 2002, blue coloured Volkswagen Jetta, (traveling on PR 200), driven by a 28-year-old female resident of Winnipeg, crossed the intersection of Highway 23 and collided with an eastbound 2001, grey coloured Chrysler Neon, driven by a 28-year-old female resident of Morris. The collision forced the Jetta into the south east ditch where it overturned. The Neon came to rest on the south east shoulder of Highway 23. Both vehicles were severely damaged.

The 4 occupants (1 female, 3 males) of the Jetta and the lone female occupant of the Neon were transported to the DeSalaberry and Morris hospitals with undetermined injuries. The female driver of the Jetta was released shortly thereafter with minor injuries while the remaining four injured were transferred to the Health Sciences Center in Winnipeg for further treatment.

Overnight, 54-year-old George Forsyth, passenger of the Jetta, succumbed to his injuries at the Health Sciences Center in Winnipeg.

Neither alcohol or speed are factors in this collision.

The investigation continues.
