Carman Area RCMP are investigating a motor vehicle accident which occurred at approximately 9:30am Friday June 25, 2010, 4 miles north of Miami, Manitoba in the RM of Thompson.

Witnesses state an eastbound GMC Sierra proceeded through a stop sign at Provincial Road 29 N and was struck on the passenger side by a northbound Pontiac Grand Prix. The pick up contained 2 people, a 27-year-old male driver and his 23-month-old passenger. The child, who had been ejected from the vehicle, was transported to Boundary Trails Health Centre and then transferred to Heath Sciences Centre in Winnipeg in stable condition. The driver of the truck and a 17-year-old lone male occupant and driver of the car sustained minor injuries.
 
A dog in the pick up truck was killed as a result of the incident.
 
Investigation reveals the child was not restrained in a child car seat.

Alcohol, weather or road conditions are not considered contributing factors.

The child has since been released from hospital and is expected to make a full recovery.

Carman Area RCMP continue the investigation.
