On July 1, 2010, at about 8:30pm, Portage la Prairie RCMP responded to a two-vehicle collision on the Trans Canada Highway and Yellowquill Trail in Portage la Prairie, Manitoba.
Portage la Prairie RCMP attended the location with Portage Emergency Services.
Investigation revealed that a 1998 Ford Explorer traveling southbound on Yellowquill Trail had failed to stop when crossing the Trans Canada Highway. The vehicle was struck by a 2001 Pontiac Montana Van traveling eastbound on the Trans Canada Highway.
The 45-year-old driver of the Montana van and his 3 passengers (an adult female, a 15-year-old male and a 17-year-old female), all from Alberta, were transported to Portage General Hospital with non life-threatening injuries.
The driver of the Ford Explorer, a 35-year-old male from the RM of Portage la Prairie, who was the lone occupant, was also taken to Portage General Hospital with non life-threatening injuries.
There were no other vehicles involved, and no other injuries reported.
Charges are pending, and alcohol is considered to be a factor.
RCMP continue to investigate.
