Late last month, Portage la Prairie RCMP members executed a search warrant at a business located in the 1500 block of Saskatchewan Avenue in the City of Portage la Prairie.
 
Investigation revealed a quantity of contraband tobacco at the location.
 
A 61-year-old male from Portage la Prairie was released with a promise to appear for August 9, 2010, at Provincial court in Winnipeg. Charges are pending under the Federal Excise act and the Provincial Manitoba Tobacco Tax Act.
 
Manitoba Finance Special Investigations Unit is working in conjunction with the RCMP Portage Detachment Investigation.
 
RCMP investigation is continuing with the assistance of the RCMP Customs and Excise Section.
