On July 21, 2010, at about 5:45am, Gimli RCMP were dispatched to a 911 call of a stabbing in the South Beach area of Gimli.

A 16-year-old male youth had entered a residence seeking help after being stabbed in an early morning altercation with another male. The victim woke up the home owners and requested police and the ambulance be called. The victim, a resident of Arborg, was taken to the Health Sciences Centre in Winnipeg in serious but stable condition.
 
Investigation revealed that the victim had been involved in a physical altercation with another unidentified male in a back lane and received a stab wound to the upper body. Police were able to identify the culprit and arrested an 18-year-old male later in the day.

The 18-year-old accused, a resident of Winnipeg, is currently in police custody facing a charge of aggravated assault.
