On September 3, 2010, at about 8am, searchers located Nadia Monaco who had gone missing on September 1, 2010.
Monaco was located in the woods, about 1/2 kilometre from where she had last been seen in the Belair Provincial Forest near Stead, Manitoba.
Searchers conducting a grid search heard her calling out to them and she was located.
Initial reports indicate Ms. Monaco was dehydrated and tired, but otherwise well. Searchers say she had been eating berries and mushrooms. She had wrapped herself in some brown paper she found to keep off the rain.
Ms. Monaco was taken to hospital for observation. Searchers were reported to be overjoyed after hearing she had been located. RCMP and the Manitoba Office of the Fire Commissioner will send searchers home for a well deserved rest and then shut down the on site command center.
The RCMP would like to thank all the volunteers and searchers who assisted with this endeavor.
