On September 7, 2010, in the morning, two girls were arrested in Dauphin by officers from the Dauphin Municipal Detachment for breaking into a home and causing extensive damage to it.

Investigators have since linked these two girls as part of a group who have been active since last Friday in a large number of thefts from vehicles within the City of Dauphin. The group has targeted unlocked vehicles in what they are calling “car hopping.”

Anyone who has been the victim of a theft from their vehicle or any other crime, is encouraged to report it to the Dauphin RCMP if they have not already done so. Investigators have recovered a large quantity of property, some of which has not yet been traced back to its owners.

The two girls, ages 14 and 15, both from Dauphin are to appear in Dauphin court.

Three other Dauphin youths, two 13-year-old girls and one 14-year-old boy, were arrested Tuesday evening in relation to these thefts. These three youths have been released on conditions and are to appear in Dauphin Court in October.

To help protect your property, your vehicle should always be locked when not in use.
