Jerry Korman

Jerry Korman running for Steinbach City Council.

Jerry Korman has announced he is seeking election as Councillor in the Municipal Elections this Fall.

Jerry has lived in Steinbach since 2004 and is a consulting engineer having 21 years experience in the field, with degrees in computer science and chemical engineering. Jerry became involved in local politics shortly after moving to Steinbach, joining the Provencher Conservatives and serving in a variety of portfolios, most recently having been appointed as Financial Agent to manage EDA finances for the entire Riding. Jerry is also involved with MLA Kelvin Goertzen and serves on the PC Steinbach Association board of directors.

Jerry believes in tight Fiscal restraint, to ensure property taxes remain low to encourage business development. He is convinced that Steinbach is poised to rapidly grow and attract new business and job opportunities, but only if property taxes are held in check. To that end, Jerry is absolutely opposed to unnecessary “frills” expenditures such as the extravagant Library expansion, and would ensure future projects of that magnitude be put to either a referendum or a plebiscite vote: Jerry believes in giving CITIZENS their voice and power, not special interest groups!

Jerry will aggressively seek efficiencies and improvements where they may exist. Having a consulting background in both computer science and chemical engineering, with large scale Project Management experience, Jerry knows what it takes to bring in large projects on time, and on budget. He understands how to efficiently deliver computer services for communities like ours, and can also ensure both water and wastewater infrastructure projects are properly engineered, properly budgeted, and designed to best ensure the long-term stability of not only critical infrastructure, but long-term growth as well.

Having personally cared for both his elderly parents, Jerry is very concerned about giving senior citizens a voice in their community. He will champion for more senior housing – life lease, care homes, apartments – for Steinbach to ensure senior citizens will have comfortable, easy-to-access housing. He is also concerned about the safety and security of senior citizens, and to that end will demand more police officers for our community and more civilian patrols.

A vote for Jerry is a vote for Fiscal Responsibility, safety and security, and measured long-term development and opportunities.
