Manitoba Health reports very low numbers of adult Culex tarsalis mosquitoes were trapped during the week of Sept, 5.  No mosquito samples tested positive for West Nile virus during the week of Sept. 5 to 11.

While exposure to West Nile virus-carrying mosquitoes is still possible at this time, the risk of human exposure to West Nile virus continues to decrease.  The risk is expected to continue to decline in the weeks ahead.  As daytime and evening temperatures become cooler, Culex tarsalis mosquitoes may become more active during the day and early evening with reduced activity overnight when temperatures are cool.
