On October 20, 2010, at about 9:30pm, Central Plains RCMP executed a CDSA search warrant at a residence in the 100 block of Tupper Street North in Portage la Prairie, Manitoba.
RCMP from the Central Plains Detachment and the D Division Winnipeg Drug Unit conducted the search with assistance from the Manitoba Office of the Fire Commissioner and Manitoba Hydro.
A 3 stage grow operation was located in the residence. A total of 66 plants along with various paraphernalia used for a marijuana grow operation were seized. The entire operation had an approximate value of $70,000.
26-year-old-Rodney Cousins and 22-year-old Jocelyn Wollman, both of Portage la Prairie, have been charged with production of a controlled substance under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act. Both have been released on a promise to appear in Provincial Court on December 13, 2010, in Portage la Prairie.
Anyone with information regarding the cultivation of marijuana is asked to call their local police agency or RCMP Detachment.
Police continue to investigate.
