Police investigation of a 2010 GMC Yukon, believed to have been involved and used in the trafficking of controlled substances, has led to the vehicle being ordered forfeited to the Province of Manitoba.

On October 22, 2009 at approximately 11:20pm Selkirk RCMP received a report of an abandoned vehicle at a residence of Outhwaite Drive located in the City of Selkirk. The vehicle, a white 2004 GMC Yukon had lead RCMP on a pursuit approximately 20 minutes earlier after being observed leaving Winnipeg and heading to Selkirk.

The vehicle, believed to have been involved and used in the trafficking of controlled substances, was searched after obtaining a search warrant under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.

RCMP seized from inside the vehicle approximately one ounce of cocaine, numerous oxycodone pills, ten cell phones and several rounds of .22 cal and .45 cal ammunition, however, no firearms were located.

Selkirk RCMP General Investigation Section(GIS) with the assistance of the RCMP Winnipeg Integrated Proceeds of Crime(IPOC) made application through The Director of Criminal Property and Forfeiture to have the vehicle forfeited under the Criminal Property Forfeiture Act.

On October 01, 2010 the GMC Yukon with a value of over $16,000 was ordered forfeited to the Province of Manitoba.

The owner of the vehicle a 39-year-old resident of Selkirk was not charged.
