Thompson RCMP have charged two teens with with possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking after two search warrants were executed in Thompson last week.
On November 4, 2010, Thompson RCMP executed two search warrants on local residences in Thompson. The first search warrant was executed on a home in the Burntwood area. Police located and seized approximate one ounce of powder cocaine and crack cocaine, along with $1,600 cash.
A 16-year-old Thompson youth is facing charges of possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking and possession of proceeds of crime. The youth cannot be named under the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act. The youth is scheduled to appear in Thompson Provincial Court on December 17, 2010.
At the same time, a second search warrant was executed on a residence in the Juniper area of Thompson. Police seized an ounce of powder cocaine in the home along with a small amount of cash. 18-year-old Joey Whiteway of Thompson has been charged with possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking and possession of proceeds of crime. Whiteway was released on recognizance for an appearance in Thompson Provincial court on December 17, 2010.
The total approximate street value of all drugs seized is $12,000.
