Providence College and Seminary will raise a meteorological tower and take another step closer to tapping into wind energy.

“Our wind power project is finally getting underway,” says Dr. August Konkel, president at Providence. “The
first step is to determine if, in fact, we have enough wind to create
enough electricity to make wind power financially viable. To do that, we
have to put up a meteorological tower.”

The tower needs to stay in place for one year, while the wind speed and direction is recorded. The “met tower” is being assembled in the field north of the soccer field on the Providence campus in Otterburne.
