Residents in the RM of De Salaberry will soon see a brand new municipal grader work its way through the municipality.
At a special meeting of council, the RM of De Salaberry recently approved the purchase of a brand new grader. The 2009 John Deere 772D, 6-wheel drive motor grader, for the cost of $205,000 plus taxes, will be purchased from Brandt Tractor John Deere.
The municipality invited several companies to send tenders for a new grader to council. Three companies responded, including Toromont Caterpillar, Brandt Tractor John Deere and Westcon Volco.
Council stated that the decision was made after careful review of each submission. The final decision was based on trade in values, warranties, delivery and the best price.
As part of the deal the municipality will trade in their 2001 John Deere 772CH. They also hope that Brandt Tractor John Deere will also waive a bill in the amount of $4,000 to diagnose a transmission problem.
The RM of De Salaberry council intends to use money from the municipality’s machinery replacement account to fund the purchase.
