On December 11, 2010, shortly before 1am, Selkirk RCMP along with area EMS and Fire were dispatched to a two vehicle collision on Highway 9, south of the Rivercrest Hotel in the RM of West St. Paul.

A 17-year-old Selkirk area male, driving a Honda Civic, was traveling southbound when it collided with a northbound Chevrolet Tahoe driven by a 61-year-old RM of St. Andrews man.

The 17-year-old and lone occupant of the Civic was extricated with serious injuries, conveyed to hospital and is listed in critical condition. The 61-year-old driver and lone occupant of the Tahoe, received medical treatment but did not suffer any life-threatening injuries.

Alcohol is not considered a factor in the collision and road conditions were considered fair.

The investigation continues.
