Shortly after 8am, December 20, 2010, officers from the Dauphin Municipal RCMP detachment were called to a home on 8th Avenue N.E. in Dauphin.

RCMP report that the home had been forcibly entered and an 87-year-old woman had been assaulted. Jewelry and the woman’s car were some of the items stolen from the home.

The woman was taken to hospital for treatment of her injuries.

The car has been recovered and the investigation continues.

Update 12/21/10 11:10am

The victim has been released from hospital. Police continue to investigate and are asking the public for their assistance.

The victim’s car, a 1994 brown 4 door Cadillac, was recovered yesterday morning around 10:30 a.m. after it had become stuck in a snowbank on 1st Street S.E. between 1st Avenue S.E. and Memorial Boulevard. Investigators are asking anyone who saw the car or people around the car to call the Dauphin RCMP.

On Monday afternoon, a person called police wanting to pass on some information, however did not leave investigators with any contact information. Investigators are urging this person to call back so they can speak to them.
