From December 13 to 19, 2010, the RCMP Holiday Check Stop Program has resulted in numerous charges.

• 5375 vehicles checked across the Province of Manitoba during 125 check Stops

• 21 people were charged with either Impaired Driving or Drive Over .08.

• An additional 2 people were charged with Refusal.

Other stats from the 2010/2011  program include:

• 13 – 24 hour alcohol-related roadside suspensions (compared to 12 last year).

• 38 people charged for not wearing their seatbelts

• An additional 444 other traffic related provincial statute charges laid.

Police also seized three rifles and various ammunition in two separate traffic stops this week.

During the same period of the 2009/2010 program  there were 19 people charged for impaired driving related offences.

Since the start of the 2010-2011 Christmas Check Stop program, the RCMP has charged 70 People with Impaired, Over .08, or Refusal, and issued (35) 24-hour alcohol related roadside suspensions.

RCMP remind the public that impaired driving is completely preventable.
