Members of the RCMP Canadian Firearms Programs (CFP) National Weapons Enforcement Support Team (NWEST) and Brandon Police Service (BPS) attended to Brandon, Manitoba for the Brandon Gun and Hobby Show on December 12, 2010, regarding an investigation into the sale of prohibited weapons.
Two males were found to be trafficking in spring-loaded knives which are prohibited under provisions of the Criminal Code. The two males were arrested without incident from the gun show and taken into custody by BPS officers. A large quantity of firearms, knives, ammunition, and cash were seized from the two individuals who had reserved tables to be a part of the show. Further investigation showed that one of the males, who was a licenced firearms dealer in Ontario, has illegally transported and possessed restricted and prohibited firearms within Manitoba in the past.
As a result of the arrest in Brandon, members of the Ontario Provincial Weapons Enforcement Unit (PWEU), CFP NWEST, and the Dryden Police Service (DPS) obtained and executed a search warrant on Monday, December 13, 2010, at a residence on Park Crescent, in Dryden, Ontario. This led to the seizure of several unsecured firearms, ammunition, prohibited devices, and a prohibited weapon.
