Three people, in connection with an assault incident, were arrested in Dauphin Wednesday afternoon by officers from the Dauphin RCMP.
An 87-year-old woman had been assaulted in Dauphin last week after her home had been forcibly entered. Along with being assaulted, jewelry and the woman’s car were stolen from the home.
23-year-old Byron Cory Kennedy, his girlfriend, 20-year-old Shanna Mae Elizabeth Murdock and 20-year-old Brittney Joy Patricia Monchka, all residents of Dauphin, have each been charged with break, enter and commit aggravated assault, forcible confinement and theft. All three have been remanded in custody to appear in Provincial Court in Dauphin on December 29, 2010.
In addition to the arrests, investigators have recovered some of the jewelry, including the victim’s wedding ring.
Investigators from the Dauphin Forensic Identification Section, Dauphin Police Dog Service, Dauphin and Brandon Major Crime Units and Winnipeg Serious Crime Unit assisted in the investigation.
