The Community of St. Malo prepares to welcome visitors to their second annual Festival of Friends.

The 2nd annual Festival of Friends, organized by local volunteers, is scheduled to kick off on February 13, and run until February 15. A variety of winter related events will take place throughout the community, but the majority are scheduled to take place within the St. Malo Provincial Park.

The fun begins Friday night with fireworks, glowskating, and a movie on an ice screen. Throughout the weekend there will be a toboggan slide, ice maze, horse drawn hayrides, cross country skiing, as well as skating. On Sunday, the Winnipeg Car Club will host ice races on the St. Malo Lake.

For the second year in a row, the festival will also be a part of the 40th annual Festival du Voyageur venue as a trading post. It will be known as the Relais Chaboillé Trading Post. Last year, the trading post was developed as a ‘game’ in an effort to encourage festival goers to venture into the rural areas.

The La Broquerie Hotel was the other rural trading post site for the Festival.

Volunteers are needed to ensure the success of this growing event and anyone who may be interested can contact Léo Roch.
