On February 1, 2011, at about 12:30pm, Oakbank and Beausejour RCMP as well as local Emergency Services and EMS were dispatched to the scene of a fatal collision between a train and motor vehicle.
The collision occurred about three miles West of Anola, Manitoba, on Millbrook Road.
Investigation has revealed that a 1990 Ford Taurus was southbound on Millbrook Road, just south of Highway 15, when it was in collision with a westbound C.N. freight train at a controlled crossing.
The crossing is reported to be controlled by a stop sign. Road conditions and visibility were reported as good at the time of the collision.
The driver, a 77-year-old man from the Anola area was pronounced deceased at the scene.
There were no other persons or vehicles involved in the collision.
RCMP and C.N. Police continue to investigate.
