On February 19, 2011 at about 8:20pm, officers from the Dauphin Municipal RCMP Detachment were called to a 3rd Avenue S.W. home as a person had been stabbed.
The victim, a 42-year-old male resident of the home, was taken by ambulance to the Dauphin Regional Health Centre and later to a Winnipeg hospital where he remains in critical but stable condition.
Investigators from the RCMP Dauphin Major Crime Services, RCMP Dauphin Forensic Identification Section and RCMP Winnipeg Serious Crime Unit are assisting in the investigation.
On Monday, February 21, a male adult was arrested in connection with this incident. No charges have been laid as of yet.

On February 21, 2011, 19-year-old Kyle Arnold Sutherland of Dauphin was arrested in Gilbert Plains and charged with attempted murder. Sutherland remains in police custody and will make a court appearance in the next coming days in Dauphin Provincial Court.
The investigation shows that an argument ensued at a party hosted by the victim at his residence which resulted in the victim being stabbed. The victim and the suspect are not related and did not know each other.
