Adults who were adopted as infants will find it easier to reach out to their birth parents and birth parents will be able to learn about the children placed for adoption under legislation that comes into effect on June 15.
The Manitoba government is moving ahead with legislation that would open birth and adoption records, and make new adoption records more open.
Manitoba’s three private, not-for-profit adoption agencies will be allowed to increase their fees for the first time in 11 years, Family Services and Consumer Affairs Minister Gord Mackintosh announced.
