Manitoba Pork Council is applauding the federal and provincial governments following last week’s announcement that Manitoba’s pork producers will be able to access a higher percentage of their estimated 2009 AgriStability payments.

In response to increased challenges facing Manitoba’s pork industry, pork producers will now be able to access 75 per cent of their estimated 2009 AgriStability payment.

Manitoba’s hog producers will now have access to a Targeted Advance Payment (TAP) under the AgriStability program, Federal Agriculture and Agri-Food Minister Gerry Ritz and Manitoba Agriculture, Food and Rural Initiatives Minister Rosann Wowchuk announced.

Federal Agriculture Minister Gerry Ritz and the Honourable Rosann Wowchuk, Minister of Manitoba Agriculture, Food and Rural Initiatives, have announced that Manitoba farmers in flood-affected areas will now have until June 30, 2009, to meet the 2009 AgriStability program enrollment requirements.
