City of Steinbach community compost depots continue to be available on Saturdays from 9am to 3pm with the final depots of the season on Saturday, October 17, 2015.
The Rural Municipality of Hanover, together with the LUD of Mitchell, are encouraging local residents in the community of Mitchell to participate in this fall’s community compost depot.
The City of Steinbach’s community compost depots are now open for the season. Residents are encouraged to bring all compostable materials to one of the three depots operating every Saturday from 9am-3pm, until mid-October.
The large pile of finished compost at the City of Steinbach’s Landfill was loaded up in record time this year. The high quality compost material is popular for local yard and gardening projects.
As a result of considerable use of the community compost depots this past year, the City of Steinbach’s Solid Waste Department is pleased to offer a high quality compost product back to the public free of charge.
Steinbach residents can look forward to having a lot of compost material for next year’s yard and garden projects.
The City of Steinbach is introducing a new curbside organic waste pick-up pilot program. This spring, residents on “Day 4” of the garbage schedule will be able to put organic waste on the curb along with their garbage and recyclables.
This summer saw the City of Steinbach’s Solid Waste Department try a second year of community compost depots.
