Steinbach RCMP have asked city council to provide funding for three more RCMP officers so that a general investigation unit can be created.

Talking with Steinbach residents about the library expansion project, it has become increasingly clear that the view on the proposed financing of this project is divided. City council should not use long term debt financing for this project.

Steinbach City Council candidate Chris Summerville says that Steinbach needs to develop a comprehensive, community based strategy to address addictions and substance abuse that would build on existing strengths and increase capacity to prevent and reduce the impact of substance abuse and addictions.

Chris Summerville, one of 12 declared candidates for one of the six seats on Steinbach City Council is encouraging voters to think about the role of City Council.

Physician recruitment has changed as the world has changed. Physicians can choose to practice anywhere in the world.

Some people doubt the usage/volume numbers provided by the Library. Some point out that besides the three public libraries in the region, the schools all have libraries.

“It looks like City Council has finally gone and got housing religion,” says Steinbach City Council candidate Chris Summerville who welcomes the Mayor’s push in last week’s Council meeting.

I’m sure folks will want to have an experienced council leading this city.

The issue of doctor recruitment is one of many that has plagued both our City and most of Manitoba for the past decade or more.

City Council Candidate Susan Penner says property tax bills that were due last week have led numerous people to ask her why their tax bills went up even though Steinbach’s mill rate went down.
