News - Emergency Preparedness Week

The City of Steinbach wants residents to be prepared in emergency or disaster situations. The City notes that in some cases when a disaster occurs, it can take up to three days for emergency responders to reach you.

May 5-11, 2013 is National Emergency Preparedness Week and while the City of Steinbach is taking the opportunity to promote and encourage emergency preparedness among its residents, the City’s Emergency Coordinator, Denis Vassart, is quick to point out that this is an important issue that should be taken seriously year-round.

As the province marks Emergency Preparedness Week from May 6 to 12, it’s a good time for all Manitobans to take stock of their own situations and plan for possible emergencies.

May 2-8, 2010 is Emergency Preparedness Week in Canada and, for the second year in a row, the City of Steinbach is recognizing the week with a major event.

Intergovernmental Affairs Minister Steve Ashton, minister responsible for emergency measures, today announced the launch of Emergency Preparedness Week, May 3 to 9, and encouraged Manitobans to take a number of simple steps to be ready for emergencies.
