Spruce Plains RCMP (Neepawa Detachment) are advising the public of incidents where local residents have received phone calls soliciting funds in support of Children’s School Programs to protect children from child predators.
The Swan River RCMP have become aware that some local residents have been receiving telephone calls from persons claiming to represent the Canadian Police Association.
In the second week of March 2009, during Fraud Prevention Month, the RCMP will focus on counterfeit currency and credit/debit card fraud.
March has been declared Fraud Prevention Month in Canada.
On February 10, 2009, after a four year long investigation which began with a complaint from Health Canada, the RCMP Winnipeg Commercial Crime Section (CCS) arrested and charged Daryl Joseph Cote (age 53) of Winnipeg, Manitoba.
