With the addition of 50 new projects to the 2014 construction season, nine kilometres of paving on PTH 52 east and west of PTH 12 in Steinbach will be included in Manitoba’s largest-ever single-year investment to build and upgrade over 1,000 kilometres of provincial highways.

Manitoba will continue to repair flood-damaged highways and bridges and will make further progress on its 10-year commitment to upgrade highway infrastructure.

Manitoba Infrastructure and Transportation advises motorists, especially truckers, that repairs to the Trans-Canada Highway east of Winnipeg will result in more traffic lane reductions starting tomorrow.

The speed limit on certain sections of twinned roadway in Manitoba will increase to 110 kilometres per hour effective July 1, but fines will also increase for those caught exceeding the limit, Infrastructure and Transportation minister Ron Lemieux and Attorney General Dave Chomiak announced.
