Manitoba is now home to nearly 150 nurse practitioners, up from just four 10 years ago, who provide essential health services to Manitobans across the province including in rural and northern communities.
The Manitoba government is celebrating the second annual Nurse Practitioner Day by doubling the number of first-year seats for training nurse practitioners from nine to 18 to train more nurses to provide important health-care services to Manitobans.
As Manitoba marked the first Nurse Practitioner Day in the province, the ministers of health and of education and advanced learning announced the creation of almost 30 newly funded positions and a new grant to help hire more nurse practitioners and improve patient care for families.
