The Manitoba government is taking immediate steps to invest in sprinkler retrofits in personal care homes and is striking a task force to provide advice to further improve fire safety in hospitals, personal care homes and other facilities across the province.

A new 80-bed personal care home will meet the current and future needs of seniors in Niverville, Manitoba.

Manitoba families will benefit from enhanced access to home-care services, more affordable supportive-housing options and an expansion of personal-care home (PCH) beds under a renewed long-term care plan.

Work will begin immediately to examine options to increase the number of personal care home beds in the Morden / Winkler area, Health Minister Theresa Oswald announced.
