Thirteen years ago, the Puratone Corporation, one of Manitoba’s largest producers of hogs, made a commitment to donate a portion of its profits to the Canadian Foodgrains Bank.

The Puratone Corporation and Steinbach Hatchery and Feed Ltd. (SHF) have entered into a business deal that will see Puratone assume control of all hog operations under the ownership of SHF, in return for intellectual property related to the feeding systems Puratone provides to the poultry industry.

Researchers with the University of Manitoba and the Niverville-based Puratone Corporation expect to shed new light on the potential role of zero-tannin faba beans and dried distillers grains with solubles in swine diets.

Research being conducted by the Puratone Corporation in partnership with the University of Manitoba will help swine nutritionists maximize the feeding value of dried distillers grains with solubles and zero-tannin faba beans.
