The Office of the Fire Commissioner, Manitoba Conservation and Water Stewardship, and the Manitoba Emergency Measures Organization continue to support municipalities and fire departments with fires in southeast Manitoba.

Over the next few days, some Manitobans may be exposed to smoke drifting into central and northern Manitoba from a number of wildland fires that are burning in Alberta and Saskatchewan.

Manitoba Conservation’s Fire Program is reminding residents of the province to be safe and be careful around all outdoor fires while camping, hiking and enjoying Manitoba’s summer.

New initiatives aimed at reducing the risk of wildfires and environmental damage caused by all-terrain vehicles were announced by Conservation Minister Stan Struthers.
