Obituary

Peter Bergen Doerksen, born on January 4, 1946, to parents Abram Doerksen and Margareta Bergen Doerksen in Loma Plata Paraguay.

Peter passed away on Tuesday morning, April 23, 2019, at Bethesda Regional Heath Centre, Steinbach, MB.

He is survived by his wife Maria Falk Doerksen; their children: Frieda & her husband Jacob, Adina & her husband Jake, Rudy & his wife Susy, Hilda & her husband Abraham, Nancy & her husband Stan; along with 10 grandchildren and two married in. He was also survived by three brothers and three sisters.

Peter was predeceased by his parents and three brothers.

Peter moved to Bolivia at a young age with his parents. He grew up there and met his wife Maria there, whom he married on January 21, 1970.

Peter became a Christian when his son Rudy was two months old. Peter was a man who loved his heavy machinery whether it was bulldozers or tractors. He had many of over the years.

Peter and his wife Maria moved to Canada in December of 2002. When he moved here, he started working at Granny’s until he was 67, when he retired. But Peter wasn’t fully retired yet. He helped his wife clean at Loewen Windows for a few years after that as well. Peter was involved in the local church community, attending bible studies and picking up people who needed a ride to church. Peter always served cheerfully and enjoyed helping many others around him.

Husband, dad, grandpa and friend, you will be dearly missed by us all. Never quit smiling and keep giving your big, long hugs, even in heaven.

The funeral service will be held Monday, April 29, 2019 at 2:00 p.m., at Birchwood Funeral Chapel, Steinbach, MB, with a private family interment to follow.

No formal reception will be held.
