Henry PJ Dyck, age 82, of Steinbach, MB., passed away peacefully at Bethesda Regional Health Centre, Steinbach, MB., on Thursday, August 22, 2019.
Henry is survived by his loving wife Lydia, son Myron Dyck and his wife Shari of Niverville, MB, daughter Melody Martens and her husband Don of Winkler, MB, daughter Marilee Deutsch and her husband Markus of Winnipeg, MB, seven grandchildren, Tyler, Jadyn, Christie- Joy, Cassidy, Josiah, Brendyn, Jordan, one great granddaughter – Demi, and two sisters.
Henry was born near Osler Saskatchewan on March 15, 1937 to John and Margaret Dyck. He grew up in the Osler area and in July of 1966 married Lydia Hamm. They were married for 53 years and spent their time together raising their children and working and serving in the communities where they lived.
In his twenties Henry accepted Jesus Christ and was baptized at Calvary Church in Saskatoon upon confession of his faith. Henry took a pastoral position in Elbow Saskatchewan and in 1976 moved his family to Steinbach to further his education at Providence University.
Henry enjoyed carpentry and worked in the trade most of his life. For the past 20 years he built cedar lawn furniture and enjoyed selling his wares at various garden markets most notably the St. Norbert Farmers Market where he could be found most Saturdays in the spring and summer months.
A memorial service in celebration of Henry’s life will be held on Saturday August 31, 2019, at 2:00 p.m. at the Birchwood Funeral Chapel, Steinbach, MB.
Donations may be made to the Gimli Bible Camp where Henry and his wife enjoyed attending senior camp for several years.
