Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that the family announces the passing of Maria Dueck age 84 on Tuesday, May 5, 2020 at the St Boniface Hospital after a lengthy illness.

Maria was predeceased her son Udi in 2003, her brother Jacob Dueck in 2019, and her brother-in-law Willie Duananky in 2007.

Left to cherish her many memories, her husband of 55 years; Bernie, sons Gus (Tamara), Perry (Ev), daughter, Rosie (Dave), 10 grandchildren, and 11 great grandchildren. As well as her sisters; Elizabeth (Herbert) Shmidt, Katharina (John) Giesbrecht, Justina (Diedrich) Giesbrecht, Susanna (Mike) Matskeu, Hilda (Bernhard) Harder, Helen Duananky, Olga (Leonard) Hiebert, Anna (Peter) Martens, brothers David (Agnes) Dueck, Edwin Dueck, Sister-in-law Katharina Dueck, and their families.

Maria was born in Loma Plata Paraguay, marrying Bernie in 1965. Together the moved to Canada in 1966. Maria was a healthcare aid, which brought her great joy, taking care of the elderly. Maria also enjoyed sewing creating little dresses for the mission field. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

According to Maria’s wishes, cremation will take place and a private service will be held at a later date.
