Obituary

William Bruno Klassen suddenly and unexpectedly passed away in his home in Winnipeg, over the weekend ahead of Monday, April 12, 2021, at the age of 69.

He is survived by his son, Matthew, of Winnipeg, MB. Bruno will also be lovingly remembered by his brothers and sisters: Elsie (Ray) Neufeld, Irene (Ralph, deceased) Joslin, Otto (Maureen) Klassen, brother-in-law Grant Pattimore (Nettie), Lottie Martens, Lenora Klassen, and Evelyn (Marek) Menczyk; nieces and nephews: Kerry, Kim, and Kris, Stephen, Caroline, and Donna, Tannis and Troy, Robert and Scot, and Andrea, Michael, and Nicholas; as well as Patricia Horban.

He was predeceased by his parents: Herman and Sara; his sister Elvena, as well as aunts and uncles.

Bruno grew up on the family farm in Elm Creek, attended Wingham School as a child, and graduated from Steinbach Collegiate in 1969. He obtained his B.Sc. in Plant Science in 1974 from the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Manitoba. He subsequently took Bible studies at Prairie Bible Institute, and was baptized in 1979 at Trochu, AB. Bruno married Patricia in 1988, and soon after began working at the Canadian Grain Commission, where he worked as a technician in the Grains Research Laboratory. He retired after 30 years of service in 2020.

Bruno had a rich depth of personal interests and hobbies, including music (playing guitar and piano), Biblical and apologetics studies, spending time outdoors with Matthew, and many more. Above all, he treasured spending time and fellowship with family, friends, and with his Bible study groups. Bruno is now at rest, having entered into the peace and presence of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

A private family funeral service will be held Thursday, April 29, 2021 at 2:00 p.m., at Birchwood Funeral Chapel, with interment at Memorial Cemetery, Steinbach, MB. You are invited to join the family via livestream.
