It is with immense sadness and also with great joy, that we announce the peaceful passing of our mother Martha H. Friesen, on Tuesday February 15, 2022, at 3:05 am, at her residence in Steinbach, Manitoba. She was surrounded by her family as she took her final steps to meet the Lord in Heaven.
Mom will be lovingly remembered by her children: Diedrich (Barbara) Friesen, Peter (Anna) Friesen, Anna (Ben) Sawatzky, Helena (Leonard) Falk, Jake (Eva) Friesen, Liese (Art) Friesen, Sara (George) Wiebe, Henry (Sharon) Friesen, Martha (Alvin) Dueck, Maria Friesen, Esther (Don) Bercier; 43 grandchildren, 83 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. She is survived by two brothers Pete Hildebrand & Johnny Hildebrand and sister-in-law Esther Hildebrand.
She was predeceased by her husband Abram H. Friesen on Feb 9th, 2020. With whom she shared her life for 72 years. She was also predeceased by her parents, two brothers, and two sisters.
Mom was born Sept 22, 1930, to Jacob and Elisabeth Hildebrand nee Unger in New Bothwell, MB, were she grew up. In 1947 Mom was baptized upon confession of her faith at the CMC church in Silberfeld.
On May 30, 1948, Mom married the love of her life Abram H Friesen. Soon after, they boarded a ship in New York. With love in their hearts and a whole lot of faith, they sailed the ocean into the unknown jungles of Paraguay. After a two-month journey, it is there they pitched a tent in a strange land. They faced many great challenges but never gave up on their dream to make this their new home and raise a family. After a few years and with God’s help they started their family of eleven children and raised them on the family farm. Mom worked hard to keep her family clean, fed and still found time to broadcast the news from Paraguay to the Carillon news in Canada.
Her passion was helping her children and helping the people in her community who needed chiropractic care. She has put many of bones in place.
In 1979 they moved back to Canada with their family. She lived her life in full in two different worlds.
The legacy mom is leaving behind for her family is one of strong values. Some of these are love, kindness, a deep and abiding faith in God. Her treasure was peace and love for one another.
Mom loved her family, she served and helped us right into her last days.
She would agree with the following scripture:
“For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand. I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day, and not to me only, but unto all of them also that love his appearing.” ~ 2 Tim 4: 6-8
The family would like to thank the nurses, as well as the home care staff for all their attentiveness and care of Mom.
Thank you.
The Friesen Family.
