Obituary

Barbra J Smith, age 87, of Steinbach passed away peacefully on Friday, January 12, 2018 at Bethesda Regional Health Centre, Steinbach, MB.

She is survived by one son Kevin, two daughters: Sandra Limburg (Ken) and Lorraine Smith; six grandchildren and two great-grandsons. She was predeceased by her husband of 45 years Curtis W Smith.

Barbra grew up on a farm in the United States with her brother and sister. She was a very adventurous little lady. This trait carried her through life. She became a nurse then specialized in midwifery. She moved to Ecuador, South America where she worked as a missionary for 18 years. She returned to the US and became a house mother at Oakhills Bible College. There she met and later married Curtis. They lived in Northern Manitoba where they worked as a missionary couple.

Her love for children continued as she taught Sunday School, Discovery Club, VBS and Awana for 54 years in many communities.

Her desire to serve Christ shone through her with words and deeds. She was a powerful prayer warrior for many.

The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, January 16, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. at the Gospel Fellowship Church, with a viewing prior to the service beginning at 12:00 p.m. The interment will follow at Heritage Cemetery, Steinbach, MB.
