Our beautiful mother, Sara Isaac, age 86, passed away peacefully Sunday, February 26, 2023, with her family by her side.
She will be lovingly remembered and forever missed by her children Dave & Betty Fehr, Eric & Ange Klippenstein, Frank & Luella Fehr, Sara & Garry Harder, Judy & Ernie Bueckert, Sheila & Dylan Barkman, Mike & Melanie Fast; her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Born in Cuauhtemoc, Mexico, in 1936, Mom immigrated to Canada with her parents at the age of 13. She met and married our dad, David R Fehr in October 1955. They settled in Grunthal and had seven children. Those years were characterized by hard work, determination, perseverance, and a little bit of crazy. She learned how to operate heavy machinery, cultivate two huge gardens, and sew entire wardrobes for everyone. Whether it was crushing cars when Dave wasn’t home or planting more flowers than a person could count, Mom loved to work hard!
Tragedy struck in early 1977 when her husband Dave unexpectedly passed away. The next few years would prove to be the most challenging years of her life. How Mom was able to navigate that difficulty being pregnant with her seventh child and raising a family is something that we will never fully understand. The strength that Mom showed during those years cannot be disconnected to her steadfast faith in the Lord Jesus!
Her life took a positive turn when she met Aaron Isaac, when she was asked to help plant flowers at the little chapel on his property. They married in October of 1983 and had 11 beautiful years together. He was an incredible source of strength for her after the death of her daughter Eva in 1985.
Shortly after Aaron’s passing in 1995, Mom made the move to Steinbach where she would remain for the next 23 years. Through all these years, Mom never lost her zeal for hard work and kept herself busy with crafting, gardening, babysitting, sewing, and a never-ending assembly line of pickling. She always looked forward to her getaways down south with her close friends or family and loved showing us her tan lines.
When she wasn’t working, she loved to show off her skills at Chinese Checkers, and to anyone who entered her doors would be subject to her relentless hospitality.
Very recently Mom dealt with some health challenges and it bothered her that she was losing her memory and her ability to be actively engaged in life. Based on many conversations each of us had with her, we knew without a doubt that her greatest prayer was finally answered. She was taken home to be with her Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, whom she loved and was reunited with those who went home before her.
