Obituary

Tina Neufeld passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 30, 2023, at Maplewood Manor in Steinbach, Manitoba with family by her side, at the age of 95.

Tina was born April 15, 1928, in the township of Mitchell, Manitoba to Henry S. & Agatha Kehler.

She was baptized upon the confession of her faith in 1948, the same year she met Pete H Neufeld at a baseball game, who became the love of her life. They were married six weeks short of their 70th wedding anniversary.

Tina loved children – she taught Sunday school and DVBS for many years. She was remembered years later by adults who had been in her class. Her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren were like sunshine to her.

Another passion of hers was serving – she was a homecare worker for many years, volunteer for 15 years at the Salem home in Winkler. Another form of serving was through the Mitchell Sewing Circle. Many buns and potato salad went through her kitchen for weddings, funerals, or any event she could bake or cook. Needless to say, we benefited – the left overs!

Then there were the days of hoeing beets – she enjoyed this, thought it was a big joke bringing her children along (she did have a great sense of humor) and at the end of the season, they had all become part owners of a new deep freezer.

Tina was a huge supporter of Pete. She learned to love music as she helped Pete bring music to care homes and other venues he would find.

She instilled in all of us her strong work ethics.

The “tootjas” (bags filled with treats) will be remembered by all. This was a great joy to her, watching the little ones line up for them, as were the sleep overs with grandkids.

Tina is survived, and will be greatly missed, by her children Linda & Norman Doell (Steinbach), Lottie Harder (Winkler), Ellie Enns (Steinbach), Murray & Joelle (La Broquerie), Mathilda & John Fehr (Steinbach), Sharon Penner (Steinbach), grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren as well as one sister Betty Friesen, sisters-in-law Agnes Kehler and Carol Kehler.

She was predeceased by her husband Pete, daughter Carolyn Giesbrecht, sons-in-law Harold Enns and Peter Harder, grandson Randy Fehr, brothers Neil, Jake, Henry, Jim, sister Mary Broesky, sister-in-law Anne Kehler, brothers-in-law Roy Broesky and Ben Friesen.

The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to Maplewood Manor for the excellent care and compassion they provided to Mom. Also, many thanks to the support and guidance provided by Birchwood Funeral Chapel.

Schine Schlope, God bless you and I love you – we will miss this from you!
