Albert Edward Mitchell, of Winnipeg, Manitoba, passed away on Thursday, September 7, 2023.
Albert was born on June 23, 1948 and the youngest of six children born to Wallace and Juliette (Heuft) Mitchell.
Albert worked as a shipper receiver for Canadian Sportswear and when the company amalgamated with Brown Fashions, he met his future wife, Kathy, who worked there as a bundler. They started dating in August 1967 and married in May 1969. They had two daughters, Pamela (Conrad) and Amanda and were proud grandparents to Kiandra, Kezia, and Kaden Doerksen and Brittney and Shayne Bergstrom. Sadly, Albert and Kathy separated in 2011 and divorced in 2015.
Albert started working at Motor Coach Industries on Clarence Avenue in 1968. He was a union representative and this gave him the opportunity to travel to Washington for meetings. His favourite part of the union trips included the All-You-Can-Eat buffets. He once proudly claimed to have gained ten pounds after a four day trip! After his retirement from Motor Coach, Albert volunteered his time in various capacities including a food bank and a cat shelter. Albert loved going for coffee, perusing garage sales, and eating spicy food.
Albert is predeceased by both his parents and his three brothers: Robert, James, and Leon and two sisters: Margaret and Anna. His ex-wife, Kathy Mitchell, passed away on September 8, 2017 and his daughter Amanda passed away in 2022.
