Elma Brandt was born in Morris, MB, on August 21, 1943, and passed away at the age of 80, after a brief illness, at the Health Sciences Center on November 17, 2023.
Elma is predeceased by her parents, Henry H. and Tena Brandt and one brother-in-law, Jim Scott. She is survived by five sisters: Lena (Peter Janzen), Nettie, Marie Scott, Tena (Levi Reimer), Martha (Art Dueck) and two brothers: Bernie (Hilda) and Hank (Betty), and many nieces and nephews.
After graduating from what was then the Mennonite Brethren Bible College, and the University of Manitoba, Elma devoted her life to teaching beginning with a time in Morris, going on to a stint at Garden Hill in Island Lake and ending in Rosenort. She had a generous spirit and was warm and kind to all. Especially in later years, she loved going out for coffee (Tim Horton’s coffee was her favorite!) or meals with family and friends. Socializing with others was very important to her. Fellowshipping at the Baptist Church and meeting with her Bible Study Group on Wednesday mornings were a very important part of her life! She loved to travel, read (in later years listening to audio books) and watching movies.
The funeral service will be held at the Morris Emmanuel Baptist Church on Sunday, November 26 at 2:30 pm, with lunch and a time of sharing to follow. There will be a viewing at the church prior to the service. Burial will take place on Monday, November 27 at 11:00 am in the Rosenort Cemetery.
The family wishes to thank the many doctors and nurses at the De Salaberry District Health Center (St. Pierre) , Boundary Trails Health Centre and the Health Sciences Centre who did their very best to try to help Elma regain her health in the last few weeks! We also wish to especially thank Hyunju Lee, who has been a strong support to Elma in the last few years, as well as her other friends who were there for her!
