It is with heavy hearts that we announce the unexpected, yet peaceful, passing of our son, brother, and friend Mark Giesbrecht on November 25, 2023 in his home at the age of 39.
Mark is predeceased by his sister Dana Giesbrecht, Oma & Opa Giesbrecht (Martin & Gertrude), and uncles Jake & Luke. He leaves to mourn his father Ed, mother Fran, brother Justin (Dani), sister Gena (Michael), grandparents Abe & Katherine Unger, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Mark was born on February 21, 1984 in Winnipeg, Manitoba and grew up in the Niverville community where he would remain a part of for his entire life. He attended school at Niverville Elementary before moving on to the SRSS in their program for special needs.
Mark was born with Down’s Syndrome as well as other medical conditions, including his first open heart surgery at only 5 months old. He surpassed every doctor’s life expectancy and went on to live a full and vibrant life.
Mark moved into his new home in Niverville in 2005 where he lived with Tim and Chad Falk. He also attended the Envision program at Edith’s Place in Steinbach.
Mark had a love for music, dancing, McDonald’s, and Christmas. He was always so full of joy and laughter and was always the center of attention, but his unconditional love for others is what many people will remember.
His joyous character will be greatly missed and those whose lives were touched by his will forever remember Mark and his love.
A livestreamed Celebration of Life will be held at 10:30 am on Monday, December 4, 2023 at the Maranatha Church in Niverville, MB. followed by a time of light refreshments.
