Franklin Alvar (Al) McDougall, age 90 years, of Roseau River, MB, passed away on Monday, October 30, 2023.
Predeceased by his parents: Joseph (Tony) and Alena (nee Preston) McDougall, siblings: Mrytle, Laura and Robert as well as first wife Martha, and their children, son Brian and daughter Heather.
Survived by his sister Gladys, his daughter Shelly, wife of almost 39 years – Phylis and step-son, Paul.
Al’s last move was to Vita Personal Care Home on July 13, 2023, making new friends (especially Charlie), caregivers and PCH staff.
Al belonged to many organizations, Belgian Club, S.M.D, Signallers Club (Kingston), Telephone Pioneers of America, Metis Association, many legions ending at Fort Garry Legion #90 for 37 years, a Corporal in the Canadian Army from 1955-1965, for which he received the United Nation Emergency Force Medal, ending with MTS (Manitoba Telephone System) having his own crew, April 1965 – October 1992. Retiring to Roseau River where Phylis still resides. Together they became members of MSOS and won many pairs Crib Tournaments.
Al has been cremated and no service will be held.
