Wayne was born in Steinbach to John and Agatha Friesen on January 28, 1972. He went to and graduated high school at Steinbach Regional Secondary School. After high school he worked many jobs such as a heavy-duty mechanic for Case, a customer support representative for Reimer Farm Supplies and a truck driver for Penner International and Bison Transport.
In 2012, he decided to get off the road to spend more time with his family and became a Correctional Officer at Milner Ridge Correctional Centre. He was so proud to work with Savannah and loved to share work stories with her.
Wayne loved his family with everything he had, and their accomplishments were his greatest source of pride.
His favourite activities included going on vacations with his family, trying to beat his kids at trivial pursuit, DJing the many summer bonfires, and cooking.
The family will never get the voice of Chef Jean-Pierre out of their heads as Wayne consistently watched his cooking videos so he could prepare delicious meals for them. He made sure to test out his food regularly as he often stated, “You can’t trust a skinny cook.”
Wayne was loved, and will continue to be loved and missed by all who knew him.
